Optometrist or Optician - what's the difference?
To call yourself an Optometrist (ophthalmic optician) or dispensing optician you have to qualified and registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
Both Optometrists and dispensing opticians usually offer specialist advice about spectacles and contact lenses and optometrists focus on eye examination to ensure they are healthy and whether any correction is needed.

How Often Should the Eyes be Tested?
The eyes should be tested at least every 2 years. To see how often you should have your eyes tested please refer to the table below:
However, if you are having any problems with your eyes or vision, it is recommended that you see an optician as soon as possible. |
